How to get help from
Home-Start Bromley
All parents struggle at one time or another. For some, the challenges can be greater. You are not alone.
Home-Start Bromley groups and services
Not all of our support and work happens in the family home. When that’s not right for a family, or where we are helping to address isolation and loneliness, create wider network and connections, building relationships and confidence, our groups are often a great way to get the help you need in the right environment. It is possible to receive support at home and in a group, start with a group and transition to home support or use a group as a transition period as home support reaches a conclusion.
If you’d like to know more about any of our services or groups, please contact us
Peer Support Groups
We run peer support groups facilitated by Home-Start Bromley volunteers. Our support groups are an opportunity for parents to discuss some of the issues that they face in a safe and confidential environment.
We have found that our support groups help with isolation and anxiety about parenting, and are a great place to make friends and share stories.

Fathers to Fathers mentoring programme
Families and children thrive when fathers are involved with the care of their children. We seek to support fathers in this important role as a father. Father to Father is our mentoring programme that matches a trained father mentor with a father who may need support.
We aim to support fathers to maximise their potential, develop their child-centred engagement and interaction with their children, and promote their positive engagement in family life, through evidenced based programmes and tools.
Many of our fathers are facing particular challenges which includes:
- Family conflict and relationship breakdown
- Mental health
- New or young fathers
- Child contact issues/legal proceedings
Our Father to Father parent volunteers are trained and committed to supporting each father on a one-to-one basis. Weekly contact is between 2-3 hours a week, and is based on individualised support planning.

Course Aims
The internationally acclaimed Circle of Security Parenting helps parents improve their own awareness of their children’s needs, giving parents the tools to strengthen parent-child relationships and raise secure children. Parents will be given the knowledge and skills to look beyond their child’s immediate behaviour to meet their genuine relationship needs.
Who is it for?
- If you find your parenting “buttons” regularly being pushed
- Your child regularly ‘throws tantrums’ or has ‘meltdowns’ and you are unsure how to respond
- You think your child is misbehaving to get attention
- You feel exhausted trying to manage your child’s behaviour
- You don’t feel connected to your child
- You feel overwhelmed by your own emotions relating to your child’s behaviour
- You would like to better understand your own – and your child’s – attachment needs
- You would like to better relate to your child and support their independence
- You would like to learn a language to make sense of what you are seeing
Course Outline
The COSP program was designed as an 8-week intervention with a single session each week. You must attend all sessions to receive the certificate of completion
Evidence Based
This intervention program was founded by Glen Cooper, Kent Hoffman, and Bert Powell, three psychotherapists from the United States. This program reflects over 50 years of research on the long-term impact of the parent/child relationship in the early years and attachment theory.
